What are you reading right now!

Man! I haven't read anything for a while! So, that's not entirely true. I've started lots of books and a few of them I got into, but something happened along the way and I lost the rhythm. Now, I desperately need to read something. Anything. But not just anything. Something I will truly enjoy. Something I'll look forward to reading every night and not just in the bathroom (sorry TMI). Here's what I've started and failed to finish:

Lost Hero by Rick Riordan (I love this guy! I loved the Percy Jackson series, and I was really digging this book. Then it got stolen out of my hotel room in Colorado.) Gone.

Tunnels by Gordon and Williams - This book is well-written, but I ran out of bath salts. K. Need to explain. I like to read while taking a bath. Is that so wrong? I ran out of bath salts. No bath salts = loss of interest in reading novels. Sad really.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3 by Jeff Kinney - These books crack me up, but I got sick and tired of trying to wrestle the book free from my sons.

So there you have it. Not finished. Not reading. Miserable. Nothing is capturing my attention right now. Believe me when I say I own a ton of books. But I just look at their fancy covers and sigh. *sigh*

Do you know how important it is for an aspiring author to read? Very important. The most important thing I can do. I'm trying to write right now. Finish books. Spark up new ideas and I'm drawing blanks. I need something to ignite my mind.

Help me.

What are you reading right now? I don't care if it's Harlequin romances or Gardening books or text books or Biographies of really boring people. Preferably I want to read fiction. Kids fiction. Teen fiction. Horror books. Something gripping.

I'm willing to pay for this information. I'll send the winning suggestion a signed copy of The Guardians of the Hidden Scepter because I've read that enough already.

All right. Please let suggestions roll in.

Right now i'm currently reading Chemistry& Chemical Reactivity Fourth Edition By Kotz and Treichel....... It's quite the exciting book! It tells you all about the nature of chemistry, matter and measurement, atoms and electrons, molecules and compounds, chemical equations and stoichiometry, reactions in aqueous solutions, the list goes on and on!Oh and on one of the pages it explains how secret messages work(you know the ones you cant see then you put lemon juice on) and how you can try it at home! Although my favorite part of the book is that it makes a really good pillow when studying for chemistry finals! You should totally read it..... and then explain it all to me so I can pass tomorrows final (or as Ragsdale calls it finale)......... um, I really wish I could say I was reading something more exciting right now but oh well...... If I come up with any suggestions I'll be sure to tell you......

Ernie's War - The Best of Ernie Pyle's World War II Dispatches.

Ernie Pyle was the greatest reporter of World War II, and he had an easy style and a knack for getting the stories that other writers didn't even think of. Great writer who died out on the field with his beloved Infantry.

Keep up the good work, my son loved the first Hashbrown Winters. Haven't got around to getting him the others yet.

I just finished Precious Objects by Alicia Oltuski. It's a non-fiction book about diamond dealers and the diamond industry.

Just started "Field Guide" by Gwendolen Gross. I'm excited because it's a new author and a genre I haven't read in a while. Maybe ever. I "met" her on Twitter and wanted to read one of her books. I hope you find something awesome to read soon.

I just finished reading "Now You See Her" written by James Patterson and another writer that I can't remember. But I really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down until I was done!

I own a nook and read a lot on it but ever once in a while I read a book I really like and I go buy it to put on my shelf. Recently I read "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. I read this with my book club and I think of it as a women's read but you said anything. I loved this book. Set in the '50's (I think) It's about the black help to the white women in Jackson, Mississippi. I loved some of their spunk and humor. It, also, presented some interesting insight into the time period and history. You can pick it up cheap at Target or Costco. I'd love to now what you think if you choose to read it!

I just finished The Golden Spiral by Lisa Mangum and loved it--it's a YA romance--what can I say?--I love a good romance!

The next book on my to read shelf is Leviathon by Scot Westerfield. I think you might really enjoy it. My 12yo son did.

I also enjoyed the Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan.

And I think I've read enough spoilers for I Am Not a Serial Killer that I might give it a try soon. . . maybe.

You could try something totally different and read Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia. I think you might really enjoy it.

Also, the Alcatraz series by Brandon Sanderson are very fun middle grade books that our whole family enjoyed.

For a complete change of pace, try Little Britches by Ralph Moody. These are our family's favorite read alouds probably because of the strong rural lifestyle.

Hiro's Quest series by Tracey West is my 7yo's favorite right now.
Geronimo Stilton is another fave with my boys.

(Also we have Hashbrown Winters and the Phantom of Pordunce Elementary and Guardians of the Hidden Scepter making the rounds here--but maybe you've read them.)

Well . . . how about Skipping Stones at the Center of the Earth, by this really great (really modest) author I love? It's middle-grade fantasy, in the tradition of Dahl and Sachar, perhaps. And perfect timing, too: It comes out in less than a week.
